BACKFLOW TESTING

Professional Backflow Testing Services

When you need professional backflow testing or installation, call the ASSE certified professionals at Carey Plumbing & Heating, Inc. What is the purpose of backflow testing? This crucial inspection test ensures that contaminated water isn't returning to the public water supply. We perform a live test of the backflow assembly to confirm that it is operating correctly. If there are problems found during this test, we will repair or replace the necessary components and re-run our test. Once the test is complete and everything checks out, clients receive a certified backflow test report stating that their system passed and we also file all necessary paperwork with the city of township!  Call us now to set up your backflow test.

We Take Backflow Prevention Seriously.

  • Did you know that our backflow testing equipment has to be sent in for re-certification annually?  And our ASSE Certification has to be renewed every three years, which requires an update course and hands on testing.
  • We provide ASSE certified backflow testing of your assembly, repair if needed, replacement or install on a new system.
  • We are an ASSE International Backflow Protection Assembly Certified Tester
  • Backflow prevention assemblies are required to protect potable water supplies for cross contamination.
  • We want to keep you and your neighbor's drinking water safe, along with answering your questions about backflow.

Backflow Prevention History

1) Legal Precedent - 1898 Courts in the United States have held water utilities responsible for water quality.

2) Federal Law Since 1914 - Sixty years before the Safe Drinking water act of 1974, the United States Public Health Service adopted standards in 1914 to regulate the quality of drinking water for common carriers, such as trains, buses, and ships.

3) The standards were expanded to include chemicals and microbiological contaminants in 1925.

4) Professional Organizations - Through its journal, the New England Water Works Association began reporting the dangers and public health disasters associated with cross-connections over 100 years ago.

5) Safe Drinking Water Act-The 1970s presented a number of changes in environmental law at the national level.

6)  Since the first articles regarding backflow events were published in the Journal of the New England Water Works Association in the 1890s, virtually hundreds of events have been reported.  We will be sharing some of these cases in our upcoming Blog.

Lawn sprinkling backflow assemblies, PVB or pressure vacuum breaker, must be tested every three years.  Water feed lines to boiler systems, fire protection and water powered backup sump pumps have an RP, or reduced pressure backflow assembly, these devices must be tested on an annual basis.  We will file the necessary paperwork for you with the city or township that oversees your backflow assembly.
